The short answer
Choose a painting company that visits before quoting, gives a written scope that includes surface preparation, can show its insurance and trade licence, and stands behind its work with a warranty. Be cautious of verbal-only quotes and very low prices with no preparation included.
Check the basics first
Ask for the company's trade licence and proof of insurance, and check that the name on the licence matches the company you are dealing with. Ask how long they have worked in Dubai and whether they use their own crew or subcontractors.
Look for a written quote that shows the scope
A reliable quote lists each room or area, the surface preparation, the number of coats, the paint brand or type, what is protected and cleaned, and the timeline. If a company cannot put the scope in writing, you cannot compare it with other quotes.
Ask about preparation, not just paint
Most paint problems come from poor preparation: cracks not filled, dust not removed, or no primer. A cheap quote that skips putty, sanding and priming will usually look fine on day one and fail sooner. Make sure preparation is part of the scope.
Red flags to avoid
- A quote given without any site visit or inspection
- A verbal-only price with nothing in writing
- A price far below the others, with no detail on preparation or paint
- Pressure to pay a large deposit before any work starts
- No warranty, or a warranty nobody can explain
Compare quotes on the same scope
Ask each company to quote the same areas, the same coats and the same paint. Only then compare prices. Reviews on Google are useful too: look at how recent they are and whether the company replies to them.
Frequently asked questions
Is it worth paying more for good preparation?
Usually yes. Preparation decides how smooth and long-lasting the paint job is, and it is the part that is hardest to fix later.
What should a painting warranty cover?
Workmanship problems such as peeling or uneven coverage that come from the painting itself. Ask what is covered, for how long, and how to claim. Our painting work includes a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Do I need to be home during the work?
It helps, so you can agree colours and check progress, but it is not always required. Confirm access arrangements in your written quote.
